Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) Vacanct Positions: Accountant and Legal Officer

The Insurance Regulatory Authority is a state Corporation set up to regulate, supervise and develop the insurance sector in Kenya.

The Authority is now seeking applications for the following vacant positions:

Accountant

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, key responsibilities of the selected candidate will include:
• Originating and processing various accounting information in a computerized environment
• Preparation and checking of payment vouchers
• Carrying out bank reconciliations and analyzing various general ledger accounts
• Updating of subsidiary ledgers, registers and other accounting records
• Assist in the preparation of various financial and management reports
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting Option) or related field
• Hold CPA ( K ) qualification or equivalent
• Have worked for a minimum period of three (3) years in a comparable position.
• Experience in the public sector will be a distinct advantage.
• Should be below 35 years of age.
Legal Officer

Reporting to the Corporation Secretary the successful candidate will carry out general legal affairs and corporate service duties that include the following:
• Assist the Corporation Secretary in ensuring compliance with the law in the operations of all the divisions within the Authority including review of legal compliance for industry stakeholders.
• Assist the Corporation Secretary in carrying out legal analysis to support assessment of legal risks, intervention strategies, compliance, transfers and amalgamations
• Carry out research and prepare reports and opinions on complex legal matters.
• Secretarial services for various committees established by the Authority.
• Assist the Corporation Secretary in preparation of contracts and other legal instruments.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in law (LLB). Possession of postgraduate training in law or relevant discipline would be an added advantage.
• Hold a post graduate Diploma from Kenya school of law.
• Must be an advocate of the High court.
• Have worked for a minimum period of three (3) years in a comparable position.
• Should be below 35 years of age.
